Great leisure centre, but such poor maintenance
• I APPRECIATE the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre but am concerned at how it is being run.
Cleaning and maintenance are inadequate and the management does not respond at all to complaints.
A year ago I reported a broken catch on a swimming pool shower cubicle door. Then, last October I became concerned about cleanliness of the male changing cubicles, and wrote to the manager, also mentioning the catch that had still not been fixed. When I spoke to my wife about this, I found that she had also reported filth in the corners and plugholes of female cubicles, using a feedback form and asking for a reply. But neither of us received any answer. I handed in another copy of my letter at reception but there was still no response.
Today, the broken catch has still not been mended . The shower water is too hot to use for a small child. A non-working clock has been on the pool wall since last summer. This is not a full survey of problems, it is just what I personally came across in my morning swim.
On past form there will be absolutely no point in reporting these problems because the complaints will be ignored. For now, the facilities, which are still fairly new, meet a reasonable standard overall. But can we trust a management that seems to find fixing a door catch impossibly difficult, to keep them in good order through the many remaining years that they will no doubt have to serve?
