Aquathon kids line up summer games date

ENERGETIC youngsters raced to the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre in the early hours of Sunday to take part in the qualifying aquathon heats ahead of this summer’s London Youth Games.
Speedster Ben Hatch put in an exceptional performance in the Tristar Two race, which was aimed at children aged 11 to 12 years old.
Despite exiting the pool last after completing a 200m swim in just under three minutes, Ben put in a storming one-kilometre run to overhaul his rivals and record a winning time of 7 minutes 37.15.
Tamir Gonen Cohen won the girls’ race in 7.45.33 after posting the fastest 200m swim of the day with a time of 2.40.90.
In the Tristar Three race, which is aimed at athletes aged 13 to 14, Vincent Neves dominated in the pool with a 3.02.78 clocking for his 10 length 250m.
Eugene Potter ran out of the transition area 34 seconds behind but gradually reeled Vincent in over the six-lap 2000m course with a seven-minute run phase to win in a very respectable 11.19.25.
Cordelia Grossman won the girls’ race in 13.09.81.
