Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 14 May 2009

Mysterious night trains

• I LIVE on Savernake Road, behind which the London Overland line runs.
The night-time train noise has never really been an issue until recently. Of late I have noticed a marked increase the number of trains running through the night and, more significantly and of a disturbing nature, literally running at all hours.
Are other residents of streets along the line noticing the same thing? Are the companies using the line allowed to do so at all and sundry hours?
Surely there is some regulation to the very long and slow freight along behind residential streets at 4am? Or the very quick and very loud little engines roaring along in the small hours? And in such volume through the night?
I would be interested to know if other people are being affected by this.
