Repair alert
• MY advice to any tenant waiting with baited breath for Camden Council to make much needed repairs to their homes is not to let them in.
Beg or borrow money to make improvements yourself, preferably with a reliable builder.
I would never again have them in my home, as the work that was done was appalling, shoddy and downright bad.
Paint on balconies peeled off the next day. That goes for the ceilings and the matting that was replaced after having the entire balcony concrete floor dug up and replaced was shambolic. Even after repeated protests about the shoddy work, most was never put right.
Employ someone who knows what they are doing and don’t be railroaded by the council

Good work
• I AM never on the side of the council, but I must say my daughter who lives in Adelaide Road, NW3, is more than satisfied with work that has been done in her flat.
She now has a lovely kitchen, more cupboards than she needs, new bathroom all tiled and done well, with electric sockets etcetera.
Our estate, Tybalds Close, is in process of being refurbished by a contractor. The manager has already called a meeting with tenants and answered lots of questions.
We have found him to be honest with us about what to expect.
