Two men and teen on murder charge
A 16-YEAR-old and two men in their 20s have been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Sharma’arke Hassan, who was shot in the head in Camden Town last May.
Chen Shire, 21, from Gospel Oak, and Didi Parkes, 23, from Cricklewood, appeared alongside the 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Sharma’arke Hassan died at the Royal Free hospital four days after he was shot at close range in an alley overlooking Regent’s Canal, outside a small housing estate in Gilbey’s Yard, on May 24 2008.
The former Acland Burghley pupil, from Agar Grove, had been planning to return to school and then pursue business studies abroad, his parents said after his death.
The killing, the second of a Camden teenager of Somali background in Camden Town in two years, prompted an inquiry by the council and the police into the role of youth gangs in the borough.
Police said on Monday that they were taking no further action against two other men arrested in connection with the shooting. |
