It’s so sad for Gooner Osley
THANK goodness Richard Osley wasn’t found hanging from his underpants in a naked bulb- lit bedsit, clutching his tear-sodden copy of Fever Pitch.
This meant he was still around to watch Arsenal’s fantastic response to a dreadful season – handing Moan United the title with barely a whimper.
In fact Les Gonneurs are fast becoming London’s Los Scouseros; obsessed with reapplying the gloss of history to hide their present mediocrity, with a sour-faced manager who can’t understand why people question his genius just because they haven’t won anything.
So on to Wembley Bridge and a fond farewell to Guus Hiddink. I will admit to becoming a little weepy on Sunday as Chelsea said goodbye.
What a ride this cuddly bear has taken Chelsea on in the past three months. Let’s have one more high Guus, and we can all go into football hibernation with a smile – except for Titterham who’ll be brawling through the bars of Europaland this summer. BRUCE MACRAE, NW3
