A poetic injustice
• IF Derek Walcott really withdrew from the poetry chair post at Oxford because he feared a feminist demo, as John Gulliver suggests, he would have been a poor holder of the post which should serve both women and men.
Notwithstanding the unhappy circumstances of Padel’s departure, women poets are routinely ignored or put down as we can see from the BBC poetry season so far.
