Cutbacks threaten birds
• THE trouble with the severe pruning given to our street trees is the time of year when it is done.
Just as birds are nesting, relying on caterpillars from the trees for feeding chicks, all the foliage is removed by severe pruning. The damage to them is obvious but no amount of complaint seems to stop it.
