God’s creatures... Children’s favourite pets are blessed at church
CREATURES great and small were blessed at a special service at St Paul’s Church in Camden Square on Saturday.
They included Fluffy, an excitable 14-month-old Ferret owned by Maya Barach, 10, and three tiny kittens owned by Sophia and Jeanne Dax-Kerr.
Father John Caster, who officiated, said animals should always be treated humanely. He referred to the story of Noah’s Ark and said this showed man’s bond with animals.
He explained that dogs have been used as a symbol of fidelity and faith in Christian art throughout history. |
