Hampstead attack in 12 overs wrap

HAMPSTEAD made light work of their home fixture against league strugglers Winchmore Hill on Saturday, needing just 12 overs to wrap up an eight-wicket victory.
The title-chasers put in a commanding performance with the ball to dismiss their opponents for a measly 74 runs in 33.2 overs.
Paul Weekes led the dismantling display with three wickets at the expense of 12 runs, supporting team-mate Zac Khan who had earlier ignited the onslaught by claiming 3-32. Leo Smith and Dexter Thomas also took two wickets apiece to leave the Hampstead batsmen with a comfortable target of 75 for the win.
Opener Brandon Buckley’s erratic form continued as he lasted nine balls before being caught for just four runs. Mohammed Akhtar came in to grab a quick-fire 42, guiding Hampstead to a winning score of 77-2.

Hill and Flowers pile on runs

Division Two
North Middlesex 213 ao
North London 153-5

OPENERS Alex Hill and Evan Flowers both scored half-centuries as North Middlesex took four points off neighbouring rivals North London.
Having been put in to bat, Hill and Flowers showed great patience and shot selection as they crafted scores of 51 and 58 respectively to help the home side reach treble figures without the loss of a wicket.
Maxwell Creese, Greg Arnold and Matt Drew all chipped in with vital runs as the hosts recorded a competitive total of 213 before the fall of their final wicket in the 50th over.
Despite tight bowling from James Nightingale, Will Wootton and Nick Brand, North Middlesex failed to make early inroads with the ball as the visitors climbed to 70 without loss off 19 overs.
The introduction of Jaron Semper finally brought the breakthrough as he struck twice in quick succession to earn himself figures of 2-22.
Semper’s efforts were matched by Ben Honour who claimed 2-36, but the home bowlers still came up short as North London survived on 153-5 to snatch a point.

Benton back on form

Division Three
Highgate 215-9 dec
Ickenham 103 ao

A DEVASTating spell by bowler Craig Gourlay helped Highgate overcome the showers to record a resounding 112-run victory away.
Openers James Warburton and Leigh Wooldridge got Highgate off to a steady start, putting on 35 runs. And when Warburton was caught down the leg-side for 12, Zac Curtis continued the good work by adding a further 19 runs to the Highgate total. Wooldridge scored 24 before he, too, was caught, leaving the visitors on 80-3. Dave Benton made a timely return to form with a smooth 54, while Graeme Jenkins and Matthew Holly both hit 30 before Highgate declared after 53 overs.
Gourlay was in outstanding form as he tore through Ickenham’s batting order to take
5-18 in a devastating 10.3-over spell. Tony Duckett also did well to take 3-33 as Ickenham were dismantled for 103 off 37.3 overs, handing Highgate 10 comfortable points.

Jason makes his point

Enfield 188-7 dec
South Hampstead 137-9

A LAST-GASP effort of 59 from Jason Domigan saw South Hampstead take a point against the odds.
Domigan had already put in a man-of-the-match bowling display with 5-76 before Enfield declared on 188-7 off 43 overs.
South Hampstead’s reply looked to be short-lived with only Matt Cullen showing any resilience with a well-crafted score of 35.
With Enfield needing just one wicket for victory, Domigan capped off a magnificent all round performance with a series of boundaries as South Hampstead avoided defeat with a score of 137-9 after 40 overs.
