It’s an Osley tinted world!
POOR, poor Richard and his R Osley tinted glasses (I’ve been itching to get that in all season). In his pink-tinted World of Woolwich, he imagines that everyone is desperate for the chance to take over the hot seat at the Emirates; where fans leave at half time after booing their way through 45 minutes in their padded seats.
Wondering whether Guus Hiddink would make an adequate replacement for Arsene Wenger is a little like me pondering exchanging my current partner for Kate Moss or Sharleen Spiteri.
Pointless.
Wenger, for all his convenient temporary blindness, naive tactics and poor transfer choices, is still the second-best manager in the Premiership, far better than any Arsenal’s witless directors are likely to attract as a replacement.
So, show a little realism Richard and you could be pushing for third place and another trip to Wembley Bridge next spring. BRUCE MACRAE, NW3
Bye, bye Cesc?
REFLECTING on another frustrating season, Arsenal were slow out of the blocks and forced to play catch-up throughout.
Apart from Arsene Wenger’s failure to buy a central defender and a strong midfielder, our problem was that our second string isn’t good enough.
We cannot retain players and build a side like Manchester United and Liverpool are doing, and this means we’re always treading water.
Robin van Persie hasn’t signed a new deal, and I believe if we win nothing again this coming season we’ll lose Cesc Fabregas. GEOFFREY GILBERT, NW8
