No solution to shortage
• COUNCILLOR Alexis Rowell is reported as saying the Royal Free Hospital Children’s School is under-subscribed next year and may be one solution to the shortage of school places in the area (Class plan, June 11).
Our school is a 40-place community special school for pupils aged five to 16.
We offer education for all children in-patients at the Royal Free Hospital. We also provide a limited number of places for children who are not in-patients but are receiving support from medical or mental health services. The availability of day-pupil places fluctuates throughout the school year because day-pupils join or leave the school at times that do not necessarily correspond with the beginning or end of the school year.
Cllr Rowell’s inaccurate and misleading suggestions do not further the cause of parents whose child does not have a school place.
