Former Acland Burghley pupils Sarah Brown |
The class acts: School stars’ portraits go on show
THE roll of honour includes a musical icon, the Prime Minister’s wife, a clutch of top legal eagles, and university boffins.
And now these former pupils at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park are set to inspire a new generation of young people – by having large portraits of themselves on permanent display in the school’s entrance hall.
Sarah Brown (née Macaulay) – Gordon’s wife and an influential PR executive – was a pupil at the school in the 1970s, while musician Eddy Grant was one of the schools first Afro-Caribbean pupils when he enrolled in the 1960s.
Mrs Brown, whose portrait was taken by former pupil Dylan Thomas, is pictured sitting in Downing Street.
Headteacher Michael Shew said: “We want these alumni to be an inspiration to current students.” |
