Perparim Nimani
Pepsi’s challenge
DEFENDER Perparim Nimani was given the ultimate reward for his efforts throughout the season on Saturday when he scooped a prestigious accolade at the Hampstead Football Club Players’ Awards.
Held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, the under-14s captain, nicknamed “Pepsi”, was named as the winner of the Simon Gavron Award, named after a Hampstead player’s father, who died in 2005.
Perparim, who lives in Cricklewood, said: “I’m already looking forward to next season when hopefully I will be able to lead my team to promotion.”
Enjoying that Emirates moment: ‘Club of the year’ players savour rewards of successful season
SCORES of talented young footballers, coaches and managers were honoured for their efforts throughout the season on Saturday at an awards ceremony held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
The Hampstead Football Club Players’ Awards saw almost 500 trophies and medals handed out for various achievements, including top goalscorer, most improved player and the manager’s player of the season.
All those involved with the club were left to reflect on what has been a glorious campaign, with teams winning cups and titles in the Regent’s Park League, the Camden and Islington League and the Girls Homes Counties League. There was also success in the Harrow League, one of the top 10 youth leagues in the country, where Hampstead were named the club of the year thanks to the efforts of manager Mike Powell and the coaches.
Since being established by Liz West and Eddie Lester in 1989, Hampstead have gone from strength-to-strength and now boast 36 sides.
Hampstead chair Diane Culligan said afterwards: “We always want to hold our awards at a prestigious venue like the Emirates Stadium to reward all the players and the managers for their efforts during the season. “They all deserve a day to remember. Our success is a real team effort, and everyone deserves recognition for all the hard work and commitment they put in throughout the year.”
