Support your local businesses
• WE are writing to express our disappointment at your failure to tell your readers about an important campaign Camden Council is running with the help of local businesses.
Businesses have told us they want support with marketing. In June we launched our “love your local high street campaign” to promote the unique range of shops, pubs, restaurants and arts venues our high streets have to offer.
We are asking local people, their friends, family and visitors to shop locally and spend their leisure time in our town centres. This is the first step in a sustained campaign to drive business to our shops and restaurants.
We know that this is an extremely difficult time for local businesses but we remain committed to helping them lead us out of the recession and prepare for the future. That’s why we are asking local people to get behind the “love your local high street” campaign.
Working with Camden Town Unlimited we are setting up pop-up shops in Camden Town and across the borough to give new entrepreneurs the space to get started, and to make sure that we are doing something constructive with the empty shops that can blight the appearance of our high streets.
We are also keen to help businesses make the most of the opportunities brought by the large number of visitors coming into the borough. That’s why we have invested in the “Only in London” campaign to bring more visitors into the capital. We are also producing a Love Camden guide to show tourists and local people what the borough has to offer.
However, the single most important thing we can all do to support our local businesses during this difficult time is to make use of the huge range of shops and restaurants in our town centres, and love all Camden’s local high streets. You can get more information about the campaign by visiting or by calling 020 7974 6666.
