Sweltering victory for Power
BANTAMWEIGHT Martin “Too Much” Power made a winning return to the ring when he overcame seasoned fighter Sid Rasak at a sweltering York Hall on Tuesday. Former British champion Power beat the 36-year-old on points over six rounds on a boiling night in the historic East End venue.
Rasak stepped in at the last minute after Power’s planned Commonwealth title eliminator against Sean Hughes was called off.
But 29-year-old Power, who lives in Camden Town, declared the fight a good warm-up and says he is ready for more.
He told the New Journal: “It feels great and I’ve been asked to fight again in three weeks.”
Power, who turned professional in 2001 and has seven national titles and eight international gold medals to his name, is currently training in Kentish Town.
