Anaconda league joy in thriller
ANACONDA swimmers secured their place in Division One of the National Junior Speedo League for the third year running after pipping Braintree in a thrilling final round. The Under-9 girls’ Poppy Boswell, Georgia Higgins, Sofia Mavili and Millie White, who had put in extra training in the last three months, showed how hard work can pay off as they earned valuable team points.
The Under-9 boys’ team of Archie Harker, Eloi Lopez-Rodriges, Fred Goudie, Harry Grubb and Sammy Williams also secured winning points to see Anaconda through.
Coach Michele Davies said: “I am constantly overwhelmed by the swimmers. They show such fight and determination and refuse to be overshadowed by much bigger clubs.”
Anaconda, who train at Cally Road pool in Islington, will be holding extra sessions in Holloway Pool next season.
The last gasp gala joy was shared by Jake Usher, Felix Day, Ronnie Grubb, Morgan Mockler and Naomi Jeffs, who will be moving up to the senior league next term.
