Kentish Town

We’re back in Town!

A NEW LOOK Kentish Town team celebrated their first pre-season victory on Saturday when they netted a commanding win over Ryman League side Waltham Forest.
In only their second friendly so far, the Townies fielded an almost unrecognisable starting line-up from the one that was nearly relegated from the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League last term.
The semi-pro side dominated the game throughout, with Fabion Simms, Emmet Rowe and Nick Antoniou coming out on top in the battle to control midfield.
The opening goal came from a corner when Uduma Kalu rose to meet Thomas Looney’s cross to send a looping header over the stranded Forest keeper.
The Townies, who drew their opening pre-season game against Tokyngton Manor 1-1 thanks to a goal from Daniel Glaude, continued to enjoy the lion’s share of the possession.
Their dominance paid off when the instrumental Looney whipped in another dangerous cross, which was directed into the back of the net by a Forest defender to complete a 2-0 win.
After the game, new Kentish Town manager Rakatahr Hudson said: “During pre-season, the performance is generally more important than the result.
“However, it was nice to get a win under our belts and the group will benefit from the confidence such a win brings.”
