Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 July 2009

Will passage short-cut remain closed?

• IN March and April Camden Council spent some £11,000 on refurbishing the passage way between Regis Road and Arctic Street.

It was something for which local residents had been campaigning for years.
Lots of people started using this passage as a short-cut to and from Kentish Town Road.
Postal delivery workers from the Regis Road sorting office found it shortened many of their journeys into Gospel Oak.
It had only been open for a few weeks when the council decided to close it again without warning.
Inquiries have revealed that the council is “in negotiation” with businesses in Regis Road about reopening. The passageway remains closed and, as the photograph shows, this is now likely to be permanent.
It is unclear who was responsible for the wasted expenditure and what actions, if any, ward councillors are playing to get the passageway reopened.
