Politically incorrect, but doing a good job
• HOW rare nowadays to find any body that is “largely made up of white males over 40” when the average age of the UK office worker is 33 with more females than males in many of them.
The chair of the Community Police Consultative Group (CPCG) is female, so they obviously aren’t sexist. Are they ageist and/or racist? Apparently not as they have tried to recruit young and BME members – even paying an outreach worker to find them – but none wanted to join. A young neighbour told me that young people want to be paid and think of regular discussion meetings as “boring”. Youth workers complain about the absence of young BME people in the group, but do not offer the CPCG suggestions on what more they can do to recruit them or give a list of candidates. Yet they praise
the work of the group, so despite its politically incorrect composition, it seems to be doing a good job.
