Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 13 August 2009

Another school dumped on our doorsteps

• I AM writing in support of Ruth Maxwell’s letter to you about the proposed school in Courthope Road for overspill primary children (July 30). I live in the road and the first we knew about the plan was when a postcard from the Council was pushed through the front door informing us that a school would open in September. No such thing as a consultation with local residents was mentioned. So much for democracy in our local council.
The site is extremely unsuitable for a school as it is a church hall adjacent to All Hallow’s church. The playground is very small and it is below street level – hardly the right environment for children to play in. There is a lot of extra noise when the children do play and when they are dropped off in the morning and collected in the afternoon there is considerable extra traffic around. I am sure that the Weedington Road Play Centre would be by far the best solution.
