Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 10 September 2009

Weighing up the costs of Tamiflu

• I RECENTLY heard that my local Camden Tamiflu depot had displaced potential users of a multi-faith centre for patients and staff based at St Pancras Hospital.
Not very long ago, this quiet space, within an otherwise frenetic and noisy hospital environment, had been opened to considerable acclaim.
Tamiflu medication may shorten the duration of influenza by one day and reduce the experience of secondary complications, so members of the public need to have access to a suitable medication collection point.
Some hospital users or workers may experience a spiritual need for quiet contemplation, meditation or prayer, not least when they or their relatives may be experiencing trauma, extreme stress, illness or death.
What options were weighed in the balance when this decision was made, I wonder?
