Mother fights off mugger
A MOTHER fought off a mugger in front of her young children during a “cowardly” daylight attack in West Hampstead on Monday.
The 38-year-old woman was walking with her six-year-old son and four-year-old
daughter when she was pushed to the ground by a hooded man in his late teens or early 20s outside Embassy House in Cleve Road.
She struck her head on the concrete but foiled the robber by rolling onto her front and clutching her handbag to her chest.
The suspect demanded the woman’s ring and tried to pull her arms out from under her before he was scared off towards Priory Road by her screams.
Detective Constable Fred Compton of Camden’s Robbery Squad appealed for
witnesses to the incident, adding: “This was a cowardly act against a woman. It appears she was targeted as a result of wearing a seemingly valuable item of jewellery.” |
