Three years on, ‘wall of silence’ shields gunman

Plea by parents of club shooting victim

THE parents of a man gunned down at a King’s Cross nightclub three years ago have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward on the third anniversary of his death.
Father-of-two Daniel Ross, 22, was shot in the head at point-blank range while partying at a Garage Fever night at the Scala.
At about 3.45am on Saturday, September 26, 2006, a gunman approached Daniel and fired before escaping back into the crowds. Although there were nearly 1,000 revellers in the club at the time, police have never managed to pin down the identity of the gunman and have struggled to find witnesses.
Mr Ross’s parents, Ivan and Jean, said: “The person that did this ugly deed is being shielded by a wall of silence. Three years is a long time to hold a secret for a killer.”
The couple, from Kilburn, reissued their appeal for information in the hope that with the passing of time loyalties to the killer may have lessened or those living with the guilt of the murder may come forward.
There is also a £20,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest or conviction.
In their appeal, Daniel’s parents said: “Please don’t let our son’s death be in vain. Come forward and speak about what you know.
“Even if you did not see the incident directly, you may still have useful information on the lead up to, or aftermath of, the incident. Every shred of evidence, no matter how small, may be crucial to the case.”
Police have previously suggested the killing may have been a case of mistaken identity. Detectives have identified CCTV images of clubbers suspected of being involved in the shooting, but have never been able to track them down.
Mr and Mrs Ross, both in their 50s, say they have no idea why their son was shot and describe him as a “loving” father to his son and daughter, now aged five and seven.
