MP’s son arrested
A 21-year-old has been charged with possessing cocaine following the search of a car parked in a former drugs hotspot in Camden Town.
Nicholas Hewitt-Birtles, of Camden Town, will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with possession of a class A drug.
Hewitt-Birtles and another man, aged 22, were arrested in Camden Square at 8.15pm on Saturday when police searched the car and its occupants. Camden Square has been the focus of a police enforcement effort to reduce drug dealing.
Hewitt-Birtles, described by police as a retail sales rep, is the son of former government minister Patricia Hewitt MP and her husband Judge William Birtles. |
