Injury-hit Town out of FA Vase

FA Vase Second Qualifying Round
Kentish Town 2, London Colney 3

KENTISH Town will be able to turn their attentions to their campaign in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League after being knocked out of the FA Vase.
Manager Rakatahr Hudson said he was “absolutely gutted” after his side threw away a two-goal lead against London Colney at Barnet Copthall Stadium on Saturday.
Town couldn’t have asked for a better start as they took the lead within five minutes of the kick-off.
Striker Luke Kavanagh flicked on Ossie Barkat’s corner, allowing Mariusz Serwin to open the scoring with a diving header.
The home side were playing great football and doubled their advantage when Serwin controlled Fabion Simms’s through-ball on his chest before coolly lobbing the keeper.
Town continued to dominate and almost added a third when Simms volleyed his shot onto the crossbar.
The turning point came when Joe O’Connor was forced to leave the field for treatment following a clash of heads, during which time London Colney managed to pull a goal back.
The hosts were then forced into a major reshuffle with Kesi Dryden, Charlie Kanaris and Nick Antoniou all being forced out with injuries.
With Town’s rhythm unsettled by the substitutions, the visitors managed to level the score.
Having used all three of their subs, Town were forced to finish the game with 10 men after Jason Donlon was also injured. Again London Colney took advantage of the injury jinx as they scored the winner with just minutes remaining.
Hudson said after the game: “For 39 minutes we were the best we have been, pressing, winning headers, creating chances. It was a joy to watch and our 2-0 lead was the least we deserved. However when Joe came off we let our concentration slip and it changed the match. I am proud of all the players, they ran and ran for the team and played beyond their years.
“Again we have not gained the result we deserve,” he added.
