Fresher student, 19, dies
A STUDENT who had just moved to London died on Monday after collapsing at a freshers party at a Mornington Crescent nightclub.
Thomas Reid, 19, was pronounced dead at around 3am at University College Hospital London in Euston after alerting staff at KoKo that he felt unwell.
At an opening into an inquest into his death at St Pancras Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, coroner’s officer Rod Quilter said Mr Reid had complained of “rapid beating in his chest” at a family meal on Sunday.
The teenager, who had just joined University College London from Leeds, was attending a party called The First Day of The Rest of Your Life when he fell ill.
Cardiac experts are expected to investigate whether a congenital or hereditary condition existed. And coroner Dr Andrew Reid ordered blood tests to rule out a link with drugs or alcohol poisoning. |
