Can the development at Talacre be built to plan?
• IN “Misleading Sport England” (Letters, October 15), Mr Harding in effect challenges Camden on two issues concerning the disastrous development at Talacre.
Firstly, how do they propose to allow the building to be constructed according to approved drawings, which contravene the most important safeguard for pedestrians – the guarantee that “visibility along the Pedestrian Access Way shall be such that there shall be no areas that cannot be seen by a pedestrian walking along the footpath”?
If the columns that obstruct the view are removed the building will not stand up.
Secondly, having failed to consult Sport England about a development that it contributed most of the money for, it was misleading about the availability of a safe route for pedestrians after dark.
This is a serious matter, since this occurred when the GLA was deciding whether to allow the stopping-up of Dalby Street and Sport England was in dialogue with the GLA.
Are we going to get an answer from Camden on this?

Flats can’t be built
• THE many users of the Talacre Sports Centre may be relieved to read last week’s letter about its future as the development of 55 flats clearly cannot be built.
It is obvious that the developer cannot build something that conforms to the access agreement he has signed. If he thinks he can, let him explain how. On reflection, his silence on these matters is pretty much understandable. However, should he break his silence I hope you will publish the response.

• THANKS to www.savetalacre.co.uk for the update on Dalby Street. It seems a prime bit of Camden property and a road has been sold to a developer which is using it to park a shipping container and some vehicles.
The developer was meant to be putting up 55 flats of such a superior quality that they could sell for between £400,000 (one bed) and £1,250,000 (3 bed) to people prepared to pay up to £9,000 per annum in service charges.
We locals, who find the area attractive, have been surprised to find anyone thought it was quite so appealing.
Perhaps being as close as seven metres from platform one of the Richmond – Stratford overground with constant Tannoy messages is a unique selling point?
