New mum Julie’s two-goal supershow
League Cup
Arsenal 4, Keynsham 0
NEW mum Julie Fleeting celebrated her return to action with two goals on Sunday as Arsenal Ladies eased into the final four of the League Cup with a 4-0 win over Keynsham Town.
Fleeting, who gave birth to daughter Ella in July, struck twice in the first half to give the cup holders an unassailable lead.
A smart finish from Katie Chapman effectively ended the tie on the stroke of half-time before Kim Little completed the rout on 78 minutes with her 18th goal of the season.
The John Greenacre Memorial Trophy
Fulham 0, Camden Town 2
CAMDEN Town stretched their unbeaten run to four games on Sunday with a comprehensive victory away at AFC Fulham.
The visitors started brightly with Carmel Clinton and Megan Worthing-Davies forcing Fulham’s goalkeeper into a series of smart saves.
Town’s dominance finally paid off midway through the half when Jaclyn Thayer emphatically headed home a Clinton corner.
Player-of-the-match Deena Blumenkrantz capped off a fine display when she played the perfect through-ball for striker Clinton, who wrapped up the win with a composed finish.
Greater London League
Division Two North
Comets 1, Katabella 0
A COMBINATION of injuries and illness meant that Katabella could only field 10 players on Sunday in their tough away game against Comets.
The Kat’s battling performance went unrewarded as they slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat despite the efforts of stand-in goalkeeper Rachel Ojelade.
The Camden-based side were unlucky not to salvage at least a draw with Helen Frazer and Kate Hesford both going close. |
