Three surgeries could unite
HEALTH bosses have announced plans to bring three surgeries in West Hampstead together under one roof.
Advanced talks have been held between partners at the practices about opening an “Easy Access Health Centre” in an undisclosed location in Fortune Green.
It follows an independent survey of 1,000 patients in Camden that NHS Camden chief executive Mark Atkinson said provided “overwhelming support” for centralised health care.
An NHS Camden spokeswoman said: “Negotiations are ongoing. If they are successful it will result in the amalgamation of three practices into one, with the retirement of two GPs.”
Lawyers acting for former Camden councillor Bob Austin have filed for a judicial review hearing in the High Court over proposals to open a similar centre in Hampstead Road, Euston.
The row, expected to be heard in early December, focuses on a lack of consultation and the decision to appoint private firm Care UK as provider.
A public consultation on the Easy Access Health Centre will begin in December. |
