New post office to open in Albany St
A POST Office that closed to the dismay of pensioners in Regent’s Park is to reopen in a convenience store three doors down from the chemist where it used to be.
The Royal Mail has written to Frank Dobson MP outlining firm proposals for a modern purpose-built counter service, with full disabled access and extended opening hours six days a week, in the Albany Street branch of Londis.
The Labour MP for Holborn and St Pancras has been lobbying for the popular service to be saved since it closed in May. Pensioners also protested against the closure.
Mr Dobson said: “I’m really pleased for the locals because we’ve put a lot of effort into this and it looks like its paid off. The sooner it opens, the better.”
The service is expected to open early next year. |
