Remembering fallen... Service is held at cemetery
A REMEMBRANCE service was held at Hampstead Cemetery in Fortune Green Road yesterday (Wednesday) in honour of those who died during both world wars.
The Mayor of Camden, Councillor Omar Faruque Ansari, police officers and pupils from University College and Hampstead schools, were among the 60 people attending the ceremony at the cemetery’s West Hampstead Military and Civilian war memorials.
Reverend Alistair Tresidder from St Luke’s Church in Kidderpore Avenue led the service and conducted a two-minute silence.
Lib Dem councillor Flick Rea read a passage from the Bible and St Margaret’s headteacher Mark Webster read The Soldier by poet Rupert Brooke. |
