Man admits killing partner with remote
A BUSINESSMAN has admitted killing his partner with a TV remote control during an argument at her Euston home.
Paul Harvey, 46, an electrical engineer from Warren Street, pleaded guilty on Monday to the manslaughter of retired US diplomat Gloria Laguna, 48, in Hillwood House, Polygon Road, in March.
His plea of not guilty to murder was accepted after the Old Bailey heard that Ms Laguna suffered from a rare medical condition that could have caused her death at any time. Harvey admitted that during a row he hurled the TV remote, which hit her on the head.
Although there was little sign of outward injury, Ms Laguna suffered severe internal bleeding from an extremely fragile artery.
Harvey was granted bail until his sentencing on December 18. |
