Lethal Little leads the way

ARSENAL are the only Premier League side still boasting a perfect record after they came back from a goal down on Sunday.
The Black Cats took the lead through Natalie Gutteridge after only seven minutes but Julie Fleeting turned the game around for the champions with two goals in five minutes. Midfielder Kim Little bagged a brace to take her personal tally to 23 goals in 14 outings this season, before Rachel Yankey completed a routine win on the hour.
The 5-1 win leaves the Gunners one point behind leaders Chelsea with two games in hand.
Arsenal Ladies also booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League with a 5-0 aggregate win over Czech side Sparta Prague.
The north Londoners opened up a 3-0 lead in the away leg thanks to goals from Gilly Flaherty, Ciara Grant and Little. They went on to complete the job last Wednesday after an own-goal from Sparta captain Lucie Heroldova and another strike from leading scorer Little.

HAMPSTEAD continued their 100 per cent start to the season on Sunday with a 5-1 demolition at Garston.
The title chasers opened the scoring with a slick team effort on 10 minutes. Sheri Ben-Atar intercepted the ball at left back and played in Claire Arnold on the wing, who cut the ball inside to Char Blackmore. She produced great skill before picking out Rhi Gladman on the penalty spot, who smashed the ball into the bottom corner with a first-time shot.
Gladman turned provider for the second with a defence splitting through-ball to Arnold, who wrong-footed the onrushing keeper before finding the back of the net from the edge of the area.
Gladman all but made the game safe with a fierce 25-yard drive, before Blackmore added a fourth with a well-placed header.
Garston grabbed a late consolation, but there was still time for Hampstead to score again when Blackmore netted her second from close range to seal an impressive win.

Katabella 2, Comets 1
THE Kats booked their place in the third round of the London County Cup on Sunday with a well-deserved victory over Division Two rivals Comets.
Katabella survived a couple of early scares, with goalkeeper Ella Naef needing to be at her best to keep the Comets at bay.
Striker Helen Frazer continued her goalscoring run with another perfectly placed free-kick, putting the Kats 1-0 up at half-time.
Frazer struck again after the break when she met winger Susanna Twidale’s cross to make it 2-0.
A momentary lapse in concentration allowed Comets to score late on from a corner, but the Kats held out to earn a 2-1 win. |
