CAMDEN CRAWL
Published: 13 March 2008

The Answering Machine

FORMED in the winter of 2005 after having met at University, finding themselves attending the same gigs and drinking in the same pubs, Manchester’s The Answering Machine began writing songs in their bedsit, apparently inspired by “Scandinavian guitar acts and C86 era indie-pop”. Not feeling the need for a proper drummer, the trio of Martin, Pat and Gemma then enlisted the help of programmable friend, Mustafa Beat.
The Answering Machine come to the Camden Crawl having supported The Rumble Strips in Autumn 2007, replaced the dead drum machine with real-life drummer Ben Perry, and to date have released singles ‘Silent Hotels’ and ‘Lightbulbs’. An album is expected during 2008.
