Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 16 March 2007

Where are buses?

THERE are a large number of shift workers who live in Highbury who are finding it is becoming increasingly difficult to get to and from work.
Many unemployed people have had to turn down jobs with early starts and late finishes, as there is no adequate public transport.
Obviously, it is far too expensive and unpractical for most working-class people to drive to and from work.
The first No 4 bus to Waterloo does not leave Highbury until 5.27am and the last one at night is just after midnight. Along this route there are many businesses and services requiring people to start at all hours of the day and night.
Shift workers’ transport needs are being ignored and discriminated against.
The bus company’s priorities should be about serving the public not the shareholders.
