School’s ‘good’ rating
• PEOPLE who know Highbury Grove School well would not recognise it from the article in last week’s Tribune (School looks to poach ‘posh’ pupils, March 16).
Just a couple of months ago it had an Ofsted inspection and teachers, pupils and governors were rightly proud that Ofsted rated the school as “good”.
Ofsted reported that Highbury Grove has improved significantly over the last five years, that pupils make “good progress” and standards have improved considerably.
The impression the Tribune article conveyed was outdated. Highbury Grove’s GCSE A*-C grades have doubled to 50 per cent since 2002.
This year, work is planned to start on rebuilding the school to give it first-class facilities. It will be a real boost for the school, and it’s something staff and pupils are looking forward to.
