Fresh plea over doorstep baby
THE mother of a baby abandoned on a Finsbury Park doorstep two years ago has still not been traced.
Police have issued a fresh appeal for the woman to come forward.
The six-week-old baby girl was found by a 55-year-old woman on the doorstep of her Thorpedale Road flat early on March 21, 2005.
She had been wrapped in a blanket and police believe may have been on the doorstep for a number of hours.
The child was named Christina by staff at Whittington Hospital in Archway.
Police say they are still concerned for the mother’s welfare. Two days after Christina was abandoned, the Whittington Hospital received a call from a woman claiming to be her mother. But she did not leave any details.
Christina, now two, has been renamed Molly and has been adopted by a north London family.
Detective Constable Tony Wright, of Islington CID, said: “I’m happy to report that, two years on, this little girl is happy with her new family. “However, we would like to speak to her mother, who must have been in a difficult situation at the time.”
Anyone who can help is urged to call DC Wright on 07950 378354.
