Chatroom ‘stranger danger’ warning
A SCHOOL website is teaching pupils about “stranger danger” in internet chatrooms.
Children at Montem Primary School, in Hornsey Road, Holloway, received training on how to stay safe online during a recent Internet Safety Week.
Deputy headteacher Mathew Kleiner-Mann said: “We asked the children what they wanted to be able to do on the website, and the answer that came back was games and homework.”
He added: “We talked about the fact that there are bad people out there, and discussed the idea of e-strangers. By comparing the situation to a story such as Little Red Riding Hood, the children can quickly grasp that there are people pretending to be something that they are not, and that this can be dangerous.”
