Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 18 May 2007

Paper trail

• I WONDER if I am alone in noticing the increase of paper rubbish around Angel and Highbury stations, with the advent of celeb-heavy gossip rags, London Lite and thelondonpaper.

The vendors set up about the same time as kids are leaving school and I feel they are the main culprits, picking up and then discarding copies a few yards later.
Surely, it must be costing the council to deal with this increase in litter, which if soiled by rain, for example, cannot be recycled. I understand Westminster Council was considering banning these so-called newspapers and wondered what ideas Islington Council has to deal with this increasing problem.
