Estate shows what can be done
• WE have just heard some good news about Brecknock Road Estate Tenants’ and Residents’ Association.
It has been highly commended in the national “Best Resident-led Initiative” competition for its work in proposing, fundraising and working on a project to make improvements to the Brecknock Road estate and, in particular, in providing two new playgrounds for children.
The work was carried out by Groundwork and the council’s Greenspace team, and includes roundabouts, slides, swings, climbing frames and monkey bars.
There’s an improved kickabout area, and plenty of places for people to sit and talk and watch the world go by.
It’s so refreshing to hear of this success, especially since I know how much body and soul went into the project. This result could never have been achieved without the vision, drive and persistence of Judith Williamson, who chairs the association, and her colleagues.
Everyone on the Brecknock Road estate can take pride in what they and their neighbours have made happen – and, as their councillor, I’m extremely proud too.
