Valerie Tagwire
Writer’s slant on today’s Zimbabwe

ZIMBABWEAN - BORN novelist Valerie Tagwire will give a reading of her work at Borders bookshop at Angel on Monday evening.
She wrote her first book, The Uncertainty of Hope, while studying for Royal College of Obstetricians exams in London.
Her book looks at poverty, homelessness, Aids and domestic violence in modern Zimbabwe.
Monday’s reading is part of Africa Beyond, a London-wide festival celebrating African culture through art, literature, music, dance and food.
Acclaimed poet Chirikure Chirikure will also read from his work at Borders on Monday. The event begins at 7.30pm.
An exhibition, Word From Africa, is being staged at the British Museum from tomorrow (Saturday).
There will be an African music evening at Marathon restaurant in King’s Cross on June 8.
