Spell check
• I LIKE the Tribune a lot. It knocks the competition into a cocked hat. They do not have a Review supplement, are less campaigning and they are not free.
But it has to be admitted they are better at ensuring readers are not affronted with bad spelling. Every week something in the Trib offends the eye. Last week took the biscuit. Call me an old fogey, but a headline gave me mental indigestion, “Tastes for the most discerning pallet”. Pallet? Or palette? How did that howler escape your sub-editor’s eye?

Editor’s note: We were wrong. The right spelling in this context is palate. |
