My agony on buses
• I AM 81 years old and a cancer victim. On Friday, as a regular reader of the Tribune, I took the number 271 bus to where the Tribune is available.
In front of me, someone accidentally dropped some money. I was terrified. I cannot shout and I cannot run after that person, because of my condition and past experience.
That is why I picked up the money and later handed it into Hornsey Road police station.
The reason I was terrified is that a few years ago, not far from the same spot, someone accidentally dropped some money in front of me.
Back then, I was able and I chased the man in order to give him back the money.
But without knowing the reason I was chasing him – to try and stop him and hand back the cash – he became very angry with me.
When it happened again last Friday, my condition stopped me from doing anything.
I am sure some other passengers saw me being so terrified when I picked up the money.
I would ask the person who travels on the 271 bus and dropped that money to go to Hornsey Road police station and state the exact time, location and amount to reclaim it. Otherwise, in time, the money will go to charity.
