Con artist woman robs OAP
A CONFIDENCE trickster befriended a pensioner before walking into her home, hitting her over the head and stealing her handbag on Monday.
The female con artist began chatting to her victim, 86, in the Co-Op supermarket in Junction Road, Archway, after the woman had collected her pension from the post office.
She was followed to her flat on the Girdlestone Walk estate.
At some point, she was hit over the head, but the type of object is unknown.
The woman was later found by her granddaughter lying on the kitchen floor.
She was taken to hospital suffering from a grazed head.
Police say the suspect is in her 40s and wore a colourful woolly hat.
Detective Inspector Mark Gower, from Islington’s robbery squad, said: “This is a horrendous attack on a vulnerable woman aged in her 80s.”
Witnesses should call Islington Police on 020 7421 0220 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
