Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 10 August 2007

Where are our skips?

• ONE of the issues at the last council elections that led to the electorate’s disenchantment with the Lib Dems at the ballot box was the disappearance of skips.
Many candidates who expressed the wish that this facility should be restored were elected. Why have their promises not been fulfilled?
On Monday, I telephoned the council seeking to dispose of a cardboard package measuring 40in x 26in x 15in that would not be taken away by the binmen and was told that it could not be collected until September 6.
Could whatever well-fed councillor with the appropriate Gilbertian title (executive member for whatever) who has responsibility for such matters please tell the council tax-payers why the skip service has not been restored and why one has to wait a month for a cardboard package to be collected.
ROY ROEBUCK
Brooksby Street, N1
