Cyclists toast pub where they can park their bikes
DRINKERS at an Angel organic pub can now enjoy carbon neutral boozing, thanks to a Labour councillor.
After months of petitioning Islington Council’s streets department, St Peter’s councillor Martin Klute has managed to have eight new cycle racks sited outside the Duke of Cambridge pub in Danbury Street.
Now drinkers know that, as well as their pints being eco-friendly, they need not worry about the effect on the environment of taking a cab home. Instead, they can hop on a bike.
Cllr Klute said: “Many people who visit the pub arrive on bicycles, and it has always been a problem to find secure parking places for them. “We convinced street management to provide the cycle stands outside Tesco. Now we’ve done the same for the Duke of Cambridge.”
