Incentives and gifts from Argos
• YOUR article regarding the retention of a contract to enforce on-street parking regulations in Islington by NCP Services made mention of an Argos points incentive scheme linked to ticket accuracy (Parking wardens go softly, August 3).
I would like to clarify that this is not part of the new contract but a long-running, company-wide recognition scheme that NCP Services has to encourage quality performance.
The Argos points recognition scheme is for all staff (not just parking attendants) who demonstrate most effectively our company’s values of teamwork, integrity, customer focus and knowledge. They are nominated for Argos points by their manager, these points then being exchanged for gifts at Argos.
A parking attendant who was praised for being helpful by a member of the public, for example, would almost certainly be nominated. Staff who achieve the highest standards of accuracy will also be more likely to receive Argos points – it is extremely important to us, our clients Islington Council, and the borough’s motorists that penalty charge notices are properly issued. At NCP Services we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of the service we offer, and the Argos scheme certainly helps us with that.
