Shots fired at car on estate
A DRIVER escaped serious injury when he was shot while sitting in his parked car on a Holloway estate on Tuesday evening. The 37-year-old victim admitted himself to hospital with minor injuries after shots were fired at his Ford Escort in Margery Fry Court at 9.30pm. Two gunmen fled down Tufnell Park Road after smashing the rear and driver’s windows of the car.
A witness who lives nearby said: “I ran outside when I heard the shots. I heard the car screech off and saw all the glass on the floor. There was quite a commotion before the police came.”
One resident who has lived on the estate for 43 years said: “There is a good community spirit. Nothing like this has ever happened before.”
Another concerned resident, who asked not to be named, said trouble on the estate had flared up in recent years. She added: “It’s the usual stuff with kids but I actually think a lot of them come from outside the estate.”
