Fans jailed for racist attack on Tube
TWO football fans who attacked a Tube passenger with a bottle after taunting him and his friends with racist chants were each jailed for 21 months. Edward Byrne, 40, from Southwark, and Sean Allen, 39, from Dorking, Surrey, launched the attack at King’s Cross station following an Arsenal match in October 2005. They subjected the passengers to a tirade of abuse, calling them “Iraqi terrorists”. When one of the victims objected to the racist jibes, he was struck over the head with a beer bottle.
The two men were found guilty of racially aggravated assault, at Southwark Crown Court on Friday.
